Hi. I wondered if anyone knows of this problem. The Speedo and Odo on my K1100rs both move when the engine/bike are moving but they respond very slowly and the odometer won't go past 3000revs even rushing around in 2nd gear.
Is it likely to be a sensor problem or a connection problem or anything else? Any idea how to fix. Thanks. (I appear to have the same problem on my old CX500 as well but that's for another day)
Other issue is the silly clips on mirrors! Why the Germans thought that would be a good idea is beyond my mental capacity, anyway, I glued oneof the metal clips in place, now it works fine but the top clip won't hold its stud at the same time as the other 2, just springs off. Again any expert advise is much appreciated.

Speedo and tachometer faces have been known to warp which can cause the needles to drag. Make sure the needles are clearing the face.

Thanks for the suggestions, although it doesn't appear to be warped or rubbing. I'm guessing maybe some link bewteen the sensor and the dial perhaps, or maybe it's just a bit stiff in there. It is 25 years old. Annoyingly that will mean removing fairings to get the instrument ox off. Any idea if it is a mechanical pick-up or if it is uses another sensor/or the ABS sensor? The ABS rings are rusted, maybe that might affect it?

Early K instrument pods were notorious for bad connections, but getting to them is a pita as you noticed. lots of repair links here and on ibmwr.org

It's not easy, but it is possible to get the pod off without removing the fairing. You will need to remove that part the forks go through so you can reach up from below to get at the screws.
