As I progress through my coolant system maintenance, I'd like to test ride the bike without going through the hassle of putting the lower fairing back on (left, right and radiator cover removed). Other than some concerns I have about flexing the now unsupported ridgid metal front brake line, I don't notice anything of concern.
BTW, this thing was pretty dirty under all that plastic. :-(

Should be fine. Many people choose to remove the lower fairing panels to gain better airflow and reduce problems with trapped heat.

Is there a way to modify an '85 RT lower fairing, with the flaps/vents off of an LT, for better circulation?
Maybe, more specifically, what did the LT do to resolve the thigh toaster problem on an RT?
