Since I installed new front discs on my bike a couple of weeks ago I have picked up an odd ABS error.
Looking at the ABS fault code guide I am pretty sure it is a front or rear sensor gar error because it resets itself the next time I start the bike whereas most fault codes do not.
The odd thing is that the ABS works just fine (no flashing warning light etc) as long as I keep the bike under 70 mph - once I go over that after three or four minutes I get the error and the lights flash etc.
I have double checked the ABS ring on the front wheel and the gap is ok and the ring seems correctly fitted and tight.
The only thing I can think of is that the gap changes on different parts of the rim but that the sensor can deal with that up to a certain number of rotations per minute but above that it gets overloaded.
Has anyone else ever had this issue? If you did how did you solve it?

Are you at the wider end of the gap specification? Are the faces of the sensors clean?

Yes, I am at the wider end, I have one spacer in but it I take it out the gap is only 0.30mm so I do need that one spacer. I will double check and clean the sensor and the ABS ring while I am at it

I would check n clean the rear as well. It's not a "wearable" Item that should change, but if it was marginal anyway, it could be coincidental? :dunno2: Can't hurt? :popcorm Upon reconsidering, I would do them at different times, just so I would know if it fixed it, which one was at fault.......................if either is? :dunno

I took out the only remaining spacer and now am too close to be within spec but the issue has gone away so that is OK by me.
Now I have the new discs and pads properly bedded in the bike brakes very well indeed. I feel SO much more confident now I can stop when I need to!

:2thumbup: Glad to hear it. Yea, those specs seem a bit arbitrary. I mean like you said, moving it less than specified corrected the problem. :riding:

I had that happen to me, and it was because when I installed the wheel, I didn't do it using the proper centering procedure, so it was slightly out of alignment which made it too whacky for the ABS to figure out. Loosened everything and tightened it back down according to the proper procedure and the fault went away.
