Hello, I am strolling down the trail of ABS diagnostics. I currently have a code 7 and am trying to diagnose if the brain is dead or the battery is causing the whole system to be a pain. I have 2 batteries running in parallel to make sure there is sufficient voltage to the brain. I have tested pin 25 of the ABS brain for voltage similar to the battery and it is.
After I do the brain reset by grounding pin 2 of the diagnostic plug, I never get a solid abs light no matter how long I hold it. One thing I do notice that only occurs on the power on after a abs restart is that I can hear a springy clicking sound about 5 seconds after I turn the power back on. I assume this has to be the ABS relay under the gas tank. Since this only occurs after a brain reset, what does this mean? Was something successful?

There is a lot of good info at: bmwk10075absfix.web.fc2.com/index

Thanks for the reply. That is the guide I am using for diagnostic; however they do not mention the ABS click after resetting the Brain.

I had to reset the ABS brain on my 1991 16V K100RS once and the relay did not click after I had done it. The reset did work however. I am sorry I cannot be more help but hope it helps a bit.
