Just picked up a project K100RS 4V a couple of weeks ago. The seller's widow said she thought it had a broken driveshaft. Got it home and surprise I needed a driveshaft (universal exploded) I managed to get one shipped over from the UK (used) in short order and installed it a couple of nights ago. I've put a few miles on it so far and am totally amazed at what a nice feeling motorcycle it is. Very solid and smooth. I've been pouring over the forum and just find it a wealth of information for the K-bikes. I have an older R1150GS but the K100 has a much different feel.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the information here

welcome, that is a very close relative to the K1, and a great combination of practicality and sportiness. I'd love to have one myself!

Welcome, I have a 91 K100RS 16v.
They are very different from the 2 valve models so when looking for info they are more like a K1100RS or K1 than a 2V K100.
Either way there is plenty of help available here.
Enjoy your new ride - and post a picture or two!

Welcome barrydm. Enjoy your "new" brick. I look forward to hearing more about it, as I do from others on this site. Sort of my daily endulgence. I imagine you got a deal on it with the broken drive shaft.

I will post up a couple of pictures when I get a moment. The bike had been sitting for about 2 years with no attention; I changed fluids, replaced battery, sparkplugs and of course the driveshaft and it just lit right up. I paid $1000 CAN for the bike but it came with a new M/C hydraulic jack, a nice riding jacket(fits),2 helmets, Clymer manual, new brake pads for the front and a bunch of other bits and pieces.
I 'm a sucker for these kind of projects, I see an old broken-down motorcycle and it's coming home with me.

That sounds like a deal to me....great find! Have fun.

The K1200 rs above I just bought a couple of weeks ago after being enthralled with my project K100RS. These things are like a drug.

It's a disease, collecting these things. Known in bike and medical circles as K-Pox. There is no successful treatment known at this time. It normally progresses with the accumulation of bikes and parts and ends when the wife refuses to park her car in the driveway to make more room in the garage.
Personally, I was at the garage e trois stage until last Saturday, but I am looking at replacing the missing brick ASAP.

Preliminary clinical trials suggest bankruptcy is an effective temporary treatment but it's limited to the length of destitution. There is hope though.

Garage a trois.....I like it. Clever. Laitch, other antidotes are kids in college, cottages and wife-dictated travel....those and single garage!
