This may rate as one of the strangest questions but here goes. I am removing my speedometer (no problems there) and sending it off to have some work done on the odometer and trip meter. Can I safely start the bike up and ride it to a friends house for some additional work. Other then not having any instrument read outs, such as, mph, abs, ect. will there be any harm to the electrical system? Will the bike even start with the instument panel removed? Thanks Ken in Katy Tx.

greetings kenray...
i wanna make sure i understand... you wanna remove the entire instrument cluster from the moto... remove just the spedo unit from the instrument cluster... put the instrument cluster back together... reinstall it on the moto without the speedo... plug in the wiring connector so the instrument cluster is powered up... then ride the moto without the speedo in the instrument cluster...
if so... im 99.9% sure you will be good to roll...
butts if you wanna ride it without the the wiring connector plugged into the instrument cluster... no... not without a mod...

Sorry for the confusion. You answered my question. The bike will remained parked until I get the instument cluster back from repairs. Kenray in Katy.

Considering the fuel and ignition is controlled by the brain and ignition modules, which I'm guessing are still in place, I see no problems riding without the cluster :P Mine has started and run fine without it installed.

the mod... (http://www.motobrick.com/index.php?topic=890.0) butts after further review perhaps the mod isnt required if you pull in the clutch... i would try pulling in the clutch... if it starts you are golden...

Just pull in the clutch and you'll be fine. (Assumes clutch switch works.)
