Title: Output Shaft Spring Identification
Post by: Vespa no more on July 13, 2017, 03:04:10 AM
When pulling / replacing the output shaft spring in my bike, I noticed it is different to the one I ordered from Motobins (using VIN and engine number).

Any ideas what's what? I am thinking that it may be off a different model.

Tension in the new spring (RHS) is significantly more that older one (which is on LHS in pic= bigger and thicker than the new one)

Any ideas?

Thanks

Guy

The change of this spring did take place somewhere second half of -85.
The reason was that the early spring was to strong which did end up with wear in the mounting eyes
and the anti backlash mechanism then didn't function properly.
At the same time the dished washer between the thin gear and the bearing was replaced with a shim
of correct thickness.
