Title: Mitas MC50 "sporty tyre option?"
Post by: manilatuner on July 10, 2017, 03:49:14 AM
I did a search and came back with a blank, Mitas is firmly a Euro brand but I see they are branching out into the US.

Anyway in the search for a proper sporty tyre for a K bike that does not require wheel swaps etc I have come across the Mitas MC50
http://www.mitas-moto.com/international/products/motorcycle-road-tyres-1/motorcycle-sport-tyres/mc-1/

They seem to offer the correct sizes for the K's and they are a very highly regarded tyre in the 300cc production racing world (Think Ninja 300 etc).

I have experience with Mitas tyres on my GS 1100 and I have to say I was very happy with them and being a bit of a tyre snob I was pleasantly surprised.

So the question, has anyone had any experience with these tyres on a K bike?, if so what's the crack?..

I am looking for a sportier tyre as I have the option of doing a number of classic only trackdays through the year and I think a K75S with a few slight improvement mods could very well be a fun bike to hoon around on  .

P.S I have ZERO links to Mitas as a brand!!!!

Regards

We have Mitas in OZ but I've never heard anything about them. I am currently running Michelin Pilot Activ and am happy with the grip, haven't had it long enough to say on mileage. Previous to the Michelin I used Bridgestone BT 45's good grip but didn't last 10,000 K's. A lot of the inmates are running Shinko's.
Regards Martin.
