Title: Fixed leaky front master cylinder
Post by: BrickMW on June 25, 2017, 09:27:11 PM
So I pulled my front cylinder back off today and decided to try fitting an oring somehow to stop the hemmorage of fluid that had resulted from my removing too much material yesterday when I ground out the bore to remove a pretty nasty layer of corrosion and get down past a couple of fairly deep pits.

Turns out the brick fairies were on my side today.. a 2 cent common oring from a Harbor Freight assortment kit did the trick! Had I expected any of this to work I would have taken better pictures. The size I used is 1/2" OD x 3/8" ID x 1/16" section. You can see it wedges nicely on the inside rim of the original seal.

I will continue to look for a replacement / backup.. but at least the yeeehaaa has resumed. [emoji106]

Last pic shows some of the snot I blew out of my calipers during the refresh. Thanks for posting this remedy—temporary or not—under a specific title. I suggest you also post this remedy—or link to it—in your WTB K75 / 2V K100 Master Cylinder  (http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,10012.0.html)thread because the problem was discussed there. That might help readers of that thread by providing information. You could still affirm your offer to buy a spare master cylinder.

Excellent!  Somewhere back in the archives here there is a thread on the good, the bad, and the ugly from Harbor Freight.  I have that o-ring set and it has been a life saver several times.
